My journey with Transition began by reading heartfelt testimonials written by clients, and now here I am, 50 pounds lighter writing my very own review! For those of you who shared your story on the website, thank you! Your stories gave me the confidence to make the call that ultimately changed my life.
My troubles with weight and body image began during adolescence and has spanned over most of my adult life. Over the course of time, I temporarily lost and gained weight numerous times with diets that were not sustainable. Eventually, my age and metabolism caught up with me and I found myself the heaviest I had ever been. I was also the unhappiest I had been in my life, masking my feelings to hide the physical and emotional pain I was in from everyone around me.
Transition changed my whole outlook on weight loss. I remember the first time I walked through the door for my consultation. I was warmly welcomed by staff and that made my anxiety quickly disappear. I found myself willingly able to talk about my struggles with my weight, something I was never able to do before, especially with people I had just met. Their approach was so different from other methods of weight loss I tried in the past. I was blown away by the support they provided, as it seemed to cover every aspect of successful weight loss. I signed up for 12 weeks and left there feeling uplifted and hopeful.
Taking that leap of faith was the best decision I could have made for myself. Over a course of three months so many positive changes occurred. I learned so much about my body! Cheryl explained the results of my bloodwork and educated me about food choices, my internal organ function, and how to make healthy choices. Joe provided me with an exercise plan that we adjusted regularly, offered excellent tips weekly, and always asked about my general well-being. Amy helped me choose wonderful foods in the marketplace and was always there to guide me in the right direction. Michelle and Nicole were always there for me lending an ear for me to vent, and they were always so positive with every single weigh in. Every week I was greeted with a smile and positive reinforcement. I quickly found that this wasn’t a diet at all. These amazing people quite literally helped me TRANSITION from having a negative relationship to a positive relationship with food. I eat to nourish my body, and I’m thriving because of it.
In 16 weeks, I lost 50 pounds! My body responded so well to healthy the food choices, appropriate portions of food, hydration, and vitamins that the weight quite literally fell off me. I can’t tell you how liberating it feels to feel GOOD. I have so much energy for everything! I’m not in physical pain, I’m more alert, and my body is operating like it did when I was in my 20’s. I understand what my body needs, and I will never again let poor food choices take over my life. I feel too good to ever let that happen again.

My journey with Transition Medical Weight Loss began overweight/obese, full of excuses, pretending to be okay being heavy, always tired, unable to keep up with life, etc. The decision to change came in August 2022 after multiple stresses in life, intensified by the impact of COVID. Seeing pictures from a family vacation that July made me realize – I needed to change.
I was initially skeptical – Is this really going to work for me? But after 48 weeks and nearly 200 lbs. loss, I can confidently say, it all works. The Transition Medical Weight Loss team is great, providing real people, with a real plan, yielding real results.
My 5-step process was:
1. Transition Medical Weight Loss: The team listened and provided right guidance, making me feel comfortable.
2. Diet/Food & Exercise: Learning to eat in moderation and incorporate some form of exercise, for me it was walking.
3. Prescribed Medication: Mounjaro has been a successful tool on this journey.
4. Family and Friends: Seeing “the change” was the best motivator. The day I replaced my old clothes with smaller sizes was a proud moment.
5. Me (or in the case of those reading this, YOU): The person embarking on this journey makes up 90% of the 5-points. You have to want this – I did/do. I am the one who watches what they eat, I am the one who has gone from falling asleep in “dad’s tv chair” to walking 70-75 miles a week. Walking that much is also something I do not have to do but want to do and more importantly, I physically can now do. No one else is going to do this for me, so there has to be some level of commitment and the program at Transition Medical Weight Loss provides that accountability.

“Everyday I thought about how I needed to get healthy, I tried to lose weight, but just couldn’t do it on my own. I have spent my entire adult life very overweight. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees which really hurt my mobility. The doctor told me they would never perform surgery on someone with my BMI. I felt horrible about myself. When I asked my primary doctor for help, she referred me to a weight management doctor in the network and he didn’t help at all. He just told me to add protein bars and shakes to my diet. He never took any bloodwork or gave me much attention. After topping the scale at 282 lbs at the age of 57 and only 5’ tall, I knew that if I didn’t do something soon, I wouldn’t be around for my family. I researched Transition Medical Weight Loss and was also considering bariatric surgery. I found myself continuing to go back to Transitions’ website and decided to make the appointment on 6/13/22. The week before my appointment, I was in Philadelphia with my family helping my daughter with my new grandson. My mind said I was able to be of great help to her, but my body said differently. Whenever we walked, if I didn’t hold onto the stroller, I couldn’t walk on my own. The knee pain was just too much, and I kept it to myself. I couldn’t walk across town to see the things we wanted to see, and by the end of the trip, I was in such pain that I didn’t think I could make it another step. I confessed to my family how much pain I was truly experiencing (They knew it, since I am not good at hiding things). I told them about my consultation on 6/13 and my daughter reviewed all the information about Transition. She is an Epidemiologist with background in obesity and nutrition, and she gave me her professional opinion that Transition seemed like one of the best programs out there. I felt hopeful.
On Monday morning, I met Joe, and he was amazing. He listened and understood everything I was going through and truly wanted to help. He didn’t make me feel bad about myself. I knew that day that Transition was for me. I signed up immediately and started the program the very next day. My only goal was to be a healthy person; I didn’t have a weight goal in mind, I just took one day and one week at a time. The medical support, the weekly encouragement, and the focus on non-scale victories was everything I needed. The food plan really worked for me and every week I felt a little better, stronger and more motivated. I was seeing positive changes not only in my appearance, but in my movement too. After 24 weeks, I signed up for another 24 weeks to keep going. The team helped me through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all other holidays by never telling me not to eat something off the plan, rather “everything in moderation”. I looked forward to my weekly visits. It was great to get my food, get the one-on-one support and to experience all the positive reinforcement from Joe, Amy, Cheryl, Michelle and everyone else on the team. As the weight continued to come off, a personal goal of mine was to join Orangetheory Fitness once I lost 100 lbs. In Jan of 2023, after I hit 100lbs, I proudly achieved that goal, joined, and jumped right into a weekly routine. I continue to make it a lifestyle since being a healthy person is my #1 goal. The motto I now live by is “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”. I am now running, rowing and lifting weights 3 times a week without knee replacement surgery. I have struggled with my weight for 10 years, during active duty in the Marine Corps and since leaving the service. I tried numerous types of diets and diet supplements but nothing could keep the weight down and if it did my energy disappeared and I had to revert back.
This program fixed all that! Not only did I lose 65lbs, my energy levels increased, I am in a much better mood all the time, and I have no issues maintaining the diet itself. Before I had started out on the program, I knew I wasn’t doing all that well from a 9 health standpoint. Exercising was hard. My overall mood was not great. And I just knew I was on a path that was going to directly lead to major health problems down the road. Once I hit my maximum weight, I said enough is enough. I need to do something about this or I am going to die at an early age.
So I joined the program. Within a month my sleeping improved. Within two months, my mood started to improve as I started to see drastic changes in my appearance. Within 3 months exercising was becoming easier because I didn’t have all this excess weight to worry about. 6 months after I started I feel great and I honestly cannot see myself ever going to back to that weight again.

They gave me hope when I didn’t have any left. My dad was one of their early adopters to the program and despite the age difference he is almost an exact copy of me. Seeing him pull through the same problem I was facing at his age made me finally stand up and take the first step.
I was hesitant at first because with most diets, I never really lost any weight but rather just stayed the same weight. When I would give up then my weight just kept gaining and I was afraid of going to the doctor and weighing myself to be even more disappointed. But when I met Joe for the first time from Transition Medical he encouraged and welcomed me instantly and I decided to finally go for it.
Immediately I saw results of losing 16lbs the first week and when I expected it to just taper off there, week after week I lost 3-6 lbs. After twelve weeks when I originally hoped to break 50lbs lost, I have stepped back and found I broke that goal and more by reaching 60lbs total.
The meals Transition had to offer were all perfect because of the wide variety and the best thing was the Transition team was always working hard to bring in more and more for their clients to be able to have. Soon they had pretty much a grocery store’s worth of selection, which when dieting is crucial for people like me who love eating all kinds of food.

I was 226 pounds in July when I started and lost 57.5 pounds by the end of November. I was used to eating 3000 to 4000 calories per day and would have never gotten to where I am today without this program.

George lost 57 pounds in 16 weeks!
I was heavy even in high school and that was 40 years ago. I have tried lots of different diet programs (I have been keeping a diet journal since 2013). All I have done is yo-yo each time – quick to lose the weight and quick to gain it back. Last November 2019 (at a weight of 174.8), I walked into Transition Medical Weight Loss to check it out. I talked to them about the program and discussed the cost. I have spent “a lot” on “FAD” diets over the years and the results were dismal so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do that again.
By mid-December (Holiday munchies), I weighed 185 at home – something had to change. I started dieting on my own, but knew that I could not do it on my own. On January 10th at 174.4, I started the Transition program. I decided that I had to do this for “ME” because I was not sleeping, I was cranky, in pain, overweight, and looking at diabetes. SOMETHING FINALLY CLICKED. I wanted this!
Joe, Cheryl, and the “Michelles” have been very supportive and helpful every step of the way and keep me focused. The Pandemic was the perfect excuse for me to quit and let it get the best of me, but I refused. When I started, I was wearing size 12 and was always feeling bloated and sickly. Now I fit in a size 4 and I finally feel good about the way I look! Thanks so much for the help I needed to get me here. Michelle lost 34 pounds!
Before Transition, weight loss had just been “something I need to do.” For a long time, I made one excuse after another for not starting to take better care of myself. My weight went up, my medications increased; in short, I had given up on myself. I wasn’t motivated to do anything.
I joined the program with my husband, Rick. We were hesitant at first because of the cost. It took us three months from our initial consult to “bite the bullet” and sign up. I believe doing the program together made it easier for us to stay on track. Not to mention competing to be the biggest loser for the week! We signed up for 24 weeks. I truly did not think I would last that long, but the Transition team proved me wrong.
I was nervous the first week as only drinking shakes and protein bars seemed impossible. I was surprised to find that I was not hungry. I thought if this is the hardest part, I can definitely do this!
I also opted to join a gym [which was included with the program]. This is something I thought I would never do. I HATED EXERCISING! Well, now I can say I don’t hate it anymore. I still don’t love it, but we are working on our relationship.
As the weeks continued, the meals and snacks continued to keep my appetite satisfied. The variety of options kept things fresh. The weekly visits were helpful, especially if I had questions regarding eating “off plan” foods. I started the program in October, which meant I had to deal with holiday gatherings. Joe and Cheryl were so invested in my success and their advice was easy to follow. My weight dropped an average of 2-3 pounds per week. After 24 weeks, I have lost 50 pounds!! I am not at my goal…yet. I feel better, my clothes are all too big, but I refuse to go shopping until I reach my goal.
I just started the maintenance program so I can continue to work towards my goal. I am confident that it will be reached with the help of the Transition team, my husband, and my own commitment to our well- being.

I completed the 12 week program, and am in the first week of my transition plan. At the beginning, 12 weeks felt like a long road ahead…but now it seems like it went so quickly. As I reflect on my 12 week journey, my story is like so many others. A middle aged man, overweight, tired, defeated. I tried other programs and had minimal success. I read a few articles in the local newspapers and magazines about this weight loss program. I reached out to Joe and his team for help.
This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I started at 242.3 pounds. This number along with my initial blood work put me in the obese range; a prediabetic 53 year old. The results were tough for me to see, hear, and accept. I decided it was time.

Over the last five years of owning a gym, between stress, a pandemic, menopause, and depression of losing my sister and father, I put on 30 pounds. I started this weight loss journey six months ago after realizing everything I do on a daily basis was getting harder and harder to do, from putting on my socks to walking my dog. Now after losing over 100 pounds, everything I do is easier. I was on three blood pressure medications and one heartburn medication, which I no longer need. I was also able to stop my sleep apnea therapy. I couldn’t walk 10 feet without taking a rest. Now I exercise and walk three to five miles each day with no problems.
